Family-Friendly Ferry Ballet
Victoria’s Inner Harbour is world-renowned for its beauty, unique waterways, bustling traffic and the lively H20 water taxis and Victoria Harbour Ferries and that provide transportation around the area. Known for their friendly skippers and fun, informative tours, these little boats are also known to be quite the dancers. Every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. this summer, until September 2, 2012, five harbour ferries gather in Victoria’s Inner Harbour and conduct a 15 minute performance choreographed to Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz. A Victoria Sunday morning tradition for the past 17 summers, this event attracts visitors to watch the Ferry Captains’ impressive skills as they perform a series of military marches and musical ride manoeuvres while travelling at full speed in their little boats. In honour of the city’s upcoming 150th birthday, the harbour ferries will fly the city’s 150th commemorative flag during the dance. Prime viewing locations for this weekly family-friendly, one-of-a-kind performance include the Inner Harbour Causeway and the Tourism Victoria Info Centre.
